Gary Blair: The Man, The Legend | Print |  E-mail

Gary Blair started playing the Accordion at the age of 8 and was taught by his late father Jimmy Blair who ran a huge Accordion school in Glasgow, Scotland.

At the age of 17 he won the UK accordion Championship Bell trophy.  He has appeared on TV, radio and video numerous times and is an accordion festival "junkie" who is in the fortunate position to be asked time and again to appear at festivals throughout the world.

His appearances in the last few years alone have been at the following festivals.

  • Caister International Accordion festival (7 times)
  • Bridlington International Pakefield International Festival UK Accordion Championships Gala Evening (22 times)
  • London Accordion festival (largest festival held in the UK)
  • Chartres, France Carrefour mondial de L'accordeon
  • Montmagny, Quebec, Canada (2 times)
  • Leavenworth Accordion celebration, Washington State, USA (5 times)
  • Kimberely International Accordion Celebration (2 times)

His band have also performed abroad in Cannes, Dubai, France, Belgium, Holland, and Italy, 2009 sees the family connection in full flow with Gary Junior joining his dad on tours and gigs and Gary Senior putting the Jimmy Blair Accordion Orchestra back together. Following in the footsteps, Junior trying to show the old man how it's done!
